In GEL batteries the electrolyte is immobilized as a gel. Gel batteries have a longer service life and better cycle capacity than lead acid batteries including old technology acid sealed batteries plus they have far superior cold cranking amps.

This "next generation" technology of AGM/Gel battery's delivers increased safety, performance, and service life over all other existing sealed battery types.

Because of the use of lead calcium grids and high purity materials, Gel batteries can be stored during long periods of time without recharge. The rate of self-discharge is less than 2% per month at 20°C. The self discharge doubles for every increase in temperature with 10°C. Gel batteries can therefore be stored up to a year without recharging, if kept under cool conditions.

Gel batteries cannot spill, even if they are broken, because they contain no liquid acid! No damaged chrome, paint or bodywork! No acid spills when filling a dry charged battery! They are non-hazardous (no liquid acid) so they do not need to be shipped as dangerous goods!
