Motoworks
Posted By: Motoworks on 14th September, 2011 at 09:31pm As NewsA number of friends and customers regularly ask us how we are and what is happening, what are our plans, are we ok!
So I think it’s now time to update all to what had happened, what is happening and what will be happening. Especially now that in the last fortnight as I have been able to secure a surrender of our lease because there is simply NO building left to lease.
It has been just over a year since the first 7.1 quake and 6 months since the Feb quake which totally destroyed our shop, in the months following it has pretty much been chaos trying to deal with the Government agencies who were set up to assist Business recovery and a Landlord who used the disaster to line his pockets with insurance and “salvage” (my opinion on salvage is simple, during a disaster it’s theft!).
Government Business Recovery agencies were a joke, after a year of battling through the Government insisted paperwork. The forced Business Mentor courses, meetings, travel, presentations etc... they loose the file. No file, no assistance. Cutting my own throat and bleeding out would have been less painful and much quicker!
But we are here and that was back then, Motoworks workshop and showroom are no more which does actually have an upside. No more fixing scooter puncture’s or oil changes on dirty old road bikes, no more ATV’s covered in cow crap!
The warehouse and distribution division which survived, although it took a heavy loss to stock is our main focus and has over the past six months restocked and re-established.
Motoworks will no longer be catering for the "High Street" Shopper. Instead the supply of everyday items will be dropped entirely in favour of quality and performance Off-Road & Supermoto only products, if it doesn't come up to our standard then it will not be stocked. No compromise on any product period, if it doesn't cut it then it's out of here.
To start, this will be seen with our TM Racing motorcycles and for the junior, Cobra motorcycles. This model line up focused on quality and performance in my opinion is unequalled in the market.
More effort will be spent on our online presence to provide our specialised service to our distant customers not able to “walk” through our door, many of these customers are no longer "just" customers, they have become great friends and stop in to chat each day via Facebook and emails. The Motoworks shop was "old school", the place to go and hang out, it still is just a bit more high tech these days.
Motoworks will be continuing with its specialised prototype and custom fabrication, many of our partners are at the leading edge of the motorcycle industry and more energy will be directed on providing R & D and custom built race bikes. The free up of our workshop will also allow more commitment to our race team with riders being provided with personal attention to assist in achieving their goals and our goal, winning.
No compromise...

Building site for the new facility, based in the rural belt on the edge of Christchurch just 35 minutes from the destroyed CBD will provide an ideal base for customers to experience the products we have on hand.
Eventually construction of a SX style track will also get underway, the Motoworks & TM Racing test track.
